Creative Engagement

Do you have a group or team you need to bring together in 2017?   Looking to build a program where you can train, reward and entertain?

Holding the attention of everyone involved can be a challenge, especially if the main objective is business learning.  Gone are the days of the 8hr seclusive boardroom meetings.  Successful retreats and team building days include a variety of activities that provide opportunities for business content, socialization, down time, shared meals and unique experiences.

SpendIng the time to develop creative options for a successful group event is essential to the planning process.  Looking at all of the options will help you decide upon the perfect plan for your specific needs and audience.  Remember that a unique and well developed plan will have your attendees retaining the important information, while sharing their fun experience with family, friends and colleagues.  It is always rewarding to see a team reliving their group adventures at the water cooler months down the line.

Contacting a professional event planner to source and research all venues and options will help save you valuable time, while alleviating all event stress.  For help with event consultation, planning and management contact us today and we’ll help take your next great event Above the Beyond.

How Professional Event Planners Save Their Clients Time & Money

Time, none of us have enough of it right?   Well, say you're a busy business leader and you know that it is time to host an appreciation event for your staff or clients. To retain these groups, the event must go on, no matter how busy you currently are.

You ask your already busy assistant to plan this great event.  Your assistant doesn't really have time to incorporate event planning into their schedule but plows ahead with the project accruing overtime hours to fit it in amongst their key tasks.

Not having planned many events in the past, your assistants first move is to hop on to Google and find the perfect venue plus all the great vendors needed to make this event a success.  "Uggh this event is taking forever to complete" you hear your assistant grumble.   Hmmmm...you begin to ponder...there must be a solution for this situation.

By calling in a professional planner who is dedicated solely to the custom design and management of each event produced; you can alleviate excess planning hours by reducing the overall research time.

Successful planners have a database of pre-screened vendors which they can access to provide quality event products and services.  Innovative tools help planners communicate with participants, organize specific aspects and manage the timeline and flow of the event.

So instead of stressing out your staff, overpaying for event features, and hosting a mediocre event; contact your friendly, organized event planner today and leave all the details in their hands.

Creative Solutions to Retain Your Team this Year

With the Canadian dollar’s recent drop and inflation levels rising, businesses will need to spend  more time planning how best to allocate their retention budgets.

Successful business leaders recognize that even within an economic downturn funds used to motivate and engage their teams are definitely dollars well spent.  There never really is a great time to drastically cut appreciation plans; however, there is a time for cost effective ideas.  That time is now!  For instance, an organization who provides a 2 day destination retreat each year may look at offering a fairly local, full day team building experience; eliminating high travel and accommodation costs.

5 Must Have Elements for a Successful Staff Retreat

Thinking of hosting a staff retreat to inform, thank and recognize your team members?

Here are five tips for creating a memorable corporate experience that can truly maximize your return on event investment.

1)  Invitations:  Distribute professional invitations with clear RSVP instructions and event highlights.  Remember to keep your attendees informed.

2)  Welcome Packages:  Create a unique and informative welcome package with detailed event itinerary.  This ensures attendees are aware of the event timeline.

3)  Facilitated Learning:  Plan the business aspect of your retreat.  This is a great opportunity to hold your AGM, host a relevant keynote speaker or training series.

4)  Play Time:  Book a fun excursion!  Possibly an activity that is a feature to the environment you are visiting.  This will have groups interacting in a relaxed situation.

5)  Enjoy a Fantastic Meal:  Develop a formal dinner program to close out the retreat.  Take this opportunity to provide top performers with awards and accolades.

*Bonus Tip:  Start planning early to ensure each element is well developed.

Team Building Turned Upside Down

Team Building Turned Upside Down

So it is almost time to start planning your annual staff retreat and you can practically hear the
moans and groans coming from your team members. Just the words “team building” can send
some employees into the “oh great, now they expect us to be friends and participate”
mentality. How can this be?  You have spent endless hours trying to figure out how to get your
team to really connect and act like a united front; you would think they would appreciate a
little break from the everyday monotony of their positions, right?

Well the truth is when we tell others they will be working on building relationships, they
assume something is already broken, and they actually shut down a little more. No one wants
to be told how to interact with others, make friends and participate, especially when they are
adults just trying to make a living.  If only there was a way to engage the group without harping
on the communication and team building aspect.

Well, lucky for you, there is a better way!  When organizations focus more on recognizing and
truly rewarding their team, rather than forcing a feel good exercise or drill; the positivity and
camaraderie begin to flow freely. Choosing unique, and interactive excursions can encourage leadership abilities, communication, and peer support all while providing a great time for attendees.

Try planning a staff retreat were a portion of the event is focussed on guests having the
option to try something new, see some amazing sights, and just have some fun.
You will be amazed at the water cooler conversations that follow a retreat where team
members get to repel off a rock cliff, race through a bobsled course, create a fabulous meal or
even man a sailboat.

The engagement possibilities are truly limitless with customized programs available to suit any
type of workplace. Need help making it all come together? Contact me today to start planning
your next great staff retreat.

Have a great Spring, Kristy
